Getting used to a new platform can feel a bit daunting, especially if you’re not sure exactly why it’s worth investing your time, energy and sometimes even money into it. Whether you already have a Correlate account or are just considering signing up, we’ve got you covered with this handy little intro to our favorite basic features.

First, welcome to Correlate! Even if you haven’t created an account yet, we love that you’re here. It means you’re just as interested as we are in promoting intentional productivity and redefining our relationship with work. Burnout (and the associated feelings of “what’s the point” that often go along with it) can be incredibly demotivating, and it’s a systemic issue that’s crossing geographic and cultural boundaries. We think it’s about time for a change.

At Correlate, we’re working to make space (and time) for people to connect the dots, collaborate and focus on what really matters, moment to moment — in life and in work. And we want it to be as simple as possible. With Correlate, you can access what you need from multiple cloud accounts and share everything from insights to instructions — all from one location, without the overwhelming feeling of too many choices or intrusive designs. Here’s the basics of how we do it.

Integrations

When we talk about integrations, we’re referring to your existing cloud accounts — think Gmail, Outlook, Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox. Adding an integration allows you to access and share emails and files stored in your cloud accounts. Have multiple accounts within one integration? We’ve thought of that, too; you can add more than one!

Boards

Boards offer you a sort of blank slate to populate as you see fit. Whether you want to share meeting notes, get an overview of a project, create a single place to link everything needed to onboard a new team member or do something else entirely, you’re in control.

Depending on how far and wide you want your board to go — whether you just want a space to organize your own mind without inquisitive eyes or the option to seek out collaborative ideas through your social networks — we offer private, shared and public boards. (We’ve even got plans to launch templates to help in the next couple of months, if you get on better with a starting point.)

Items

The content in your board can be divided into what we at Correlate call items. An item can be anything — whether that’s a note, a to-do list, a bulleted list, a numbered list, an expandable list, an email, a file, a link or a divider.

We even offer a handy option to preview a file directly in Correlate, without having to open up the original doc in another tab (or having to create a cloud account in that platform just to view the file). The preview will display as a static PDF, so you only need to create or access your OneDrive and/or Dropbox accounts if you have to edit the file directly.

Teams

Teams allow you to expand your digital community and work together to get things done. Whether you form teams based on departments, projects or something else entirely is up to you. And thanks to comment features and the ability to add extra items (from to-do lists to descriptions of the files), you can improve collaboration and add context to your content.

And that’s it! There’s your basic introduction to the joys of Correlate. We hope you’re feeling empowered to give it a go, so feel free to sign up for a free account or log in to your existing account and explore the possibilities.
